Day 31

End of my first month! I have been thinking about a few different ways to keep things interesting over the next 11 months. I am going to try and focus on relationships during February. I have also given some thought to having a guest photographer posting along side me for a week.  If anyone is interested, let me know. Here is today's picture. I took it while I was grilling on my parents' back porch.

Day 30

I went on a quick walk with my father in law and son this afternoon. We went by a field with a mule who came over to investigate us.

Day 29

After I got home from work I realized I had forgotten the dog at my parents. After getting home from getting the dog I realized we were out of coffee. Desperate for a cup of coffee, I went back out a third time and on my way home I snapped these.

Day 28

My son's birthday party was today. He got his very own cake to eat. He was not sure what to do with it at first but he got the hang of it quickly.

Day 27

Today is the boy's birthday. He is one year! We did a photo-shoot today of Andrew as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the theme for his party. After we took his costume off he darted across the back drop to an orange and I was able to snap my favorite shot of the day.  

Day 26

Another 12 hour day at my other job leaves the picture tank near empty. I was able to capture a shot while driving down main street on my way home.

Day 25

Today was an unseasonably warm day so we put the hammock up to enjoy the warmth of the sun. 

Day 24

To celebrate the due date of our son (his first birthday is on Friday) I got my wife some roses. Moments after she stuck them in a vase I knew what to post for today.

I had the pleasure of shooting some pictures for Edgar Martinez today and captured a great lens flare shot.

I enjoyed how yesterday's picture turned out so much I thought I would try another one in that same idea. My son is getting a book out of his book drawer.

This is not the picture I intended to use today. I planned on taking a picture of a waterfall at the Balsam Center, but while I was walking back I took this shot and I decided to go with it. There is something about the movement that I really love.

I had this idea yesterday but after shooting GNI I thought I would wait until today to do it. I could not decided again between two pictures so I you get two!

Goodnight, Irony is a great local band that I have had the pleasure of photographing on a semi regular basis.

A house being torn down across the street from my wife's aunt and uncle's house. The state bought their house and the surrounding houses to widen the highway.

After getting frustrated by the elusiveness of lightning today I decided to create a composite shot of myself.

Day 10

I decided to do a shoot of coffee and cream. I loved the coloring of the glass before I put the cream in. The picture with the cream turned out really well. So today I am going to post a double!

I made a makeshift back drop using paper towels. It didn't turn out half bad.

Day 9

I saw this as I was getting out of the car at my in-laws'. It has been raining all day and some water had built up in their driveway.

Day 8

I know this picture might look like a quick snap shot but I actually thought this one out. It has been very rainy here and on my way to work this morning I stopped by Walmart. The lights where glowing in the rain cloud that had settled down in the valley and I wanted to capture some movement so I shot from my van as I was pulling out.

Day 7

This evening I thought I would highlight my first camera. It is a 35mm Olympus OM-1. It was my dad's. Next to it is my wife's old camera, a Casio Exilim. The reason I am including it is because I shot my first wedding with it.

I enjoyed the way the trees turned out in this picture.

Day 5

Today I worked one of the three 12 hour shifts I work each week. These work days will be the biggest challenge for my picture-a-day goal. I was able to take a picture highlighting my wife's knitting. Among the yarn are three hats she has knitted for me.

Day 4

My boy is growing and beginning to make little boy faces.

Day 3

Disc golf in the snow is a bad idea but made for some cool (no pun intended) pictures. I loved the color of the disc contrasting against the white snow.

Day 2

I got to use my new cast iron pan tonight cooking a tomato sauce.

Day 1

I was inspired to create a photo joural this year. I have a new Moleskine notebook where I will be keeping a physical record of each image. I wanted to share this project with you. You can follow along and see what I see this year.
